I’m David Barkat. My studio brings together several fields — IT, audiovisual, events, genealogy — with one common thread: people and memory.
💻 My IT story (real life version)
It started early, with a machine that truly opened the world for me: a Tandy 286 (DOS 3.x). Hours of learning, testing, fixing, organising… and teaching myself.
- 1st PC: Tandy 286 – DOS 3.x – first software, first troubleshooting, first backups (and first cold sweats 😄).
- 2nd PC: 486 DX2-66 – Windows 3.1 – speed, multimedia, and the feeling that “everything” became possible.
- Printer: a Canon thermal printer (paper roll) — the kind of detail that defines an era… and taught me to love delivering concrete results.
That curiosity never left. Today I keep the same approach: understand the problem, secure what matters, and deliver a clear solution.
🎥 Audiovisual & events
Over the years, my technical world expanded to sound, image, editing and live production. In France, I worked for many years as a photographer, cameraman and video editor, covering and producing 300+ events: weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, shows, theatre plays, concerts and cultural events.
I am a certified audiovisual and IT technician, which allows me to master the full chain: image, sound, lighting, editing, delivery and data security.
🧑🏫 Training & teaching
In France, I also worked as an adult trainer in IT and digital skills. This helped me build a clear, progressive and reassuring teaching style, adapted to very different audiences.
Teaching adults is, above all, listening, adapting to each person’s pace and explaining without unnecessary jargon — the same approach I use today for senior courses and one‑to‑one support.
📸 Studio portrait photography
Alongside event work, I also work as a studio portrait photographer. I focus on lighting, expression and comfort to create natural, respectful and timeless portraits.
🛠️ Computer repair & optimisation
I also work as a computer repair technician, both on the software and hardware side: diagnostics, component repair or replacement, thorough cleaning, and full system refresh (optimisation, clean reinstallation, upgrades).
My goal is always the same: extend the life of equipment, improve reliability, and return a computer that is stable, fast and easy to use.
🌳 Family memory & genealogy
There is also memory in a deeper sense: photos, videos, stories and roots. Genealogy (especially Jewish families from Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia) became a key focus: organising, connecting branches, and passing on a clear story to the next generations.
🤝 My way of working
- Patience and teaching mindset (no useless jargon).
- Rigor and transparency (we know what we do and why).
- Respect for the stories and data entrusted to me (images, files, family memory).
